President’s Message
Written by NRMSS Alumni // February 3, 2011 // Articles, Messages // Comments Off
I am extremely humbled and it is indeed a great honor to be elected as the President of the North Ruimveldt Multilateral Secondary School Alumni Association, USA. I thank everyone who had the confidence in me and encouraged me to accept this office. I do not take it lightly for I stand on the shoulders of those that served before me, Janice Inniss our first President and Mark Weekes our interim President both serving in the 90’s.
After being dormant for many years, in July 2009, some former students organized a committee that planned and hosted a reunion on September 3rd 2010, in recognition of the school’s 35th Anniversary. The response was awe-inspiring and served as a catalyst for the rebirth of our Alumni Association. Our main purpose is “To help assure the stability of North Ruimveldt Multilateral Secondary School which contributes to academic excellence in Guyana”. In addition some of our goals are:-
- To establish and maintain a unified relationship with the current administration, creating a natural sense of camaraderie that represents this institution we gratefully call our “alma mater”.
- To develop a dynamic organization that serves as the representative voice of all former students working in partnership with the Head Teacher, for the benefit of all current and future students.
- To enhance the growth of NRMSS, by providing a wide range of resources that will open doors of opportunities for every student.
It is important to stay connected to our Alma Mater, I cannot over emphasize the importance of supporting the institution that gave us the foundation for our career. This committee therefore invites each alumnus to get involved. Here is an open invitation to kindly join us and help us achieve our goals, help us provide opportunities for the kids that are in classrooms now and those that would come through the doors of our alma mater, help us pay it forward.
I know we can achieve these goals together. It is my belief that everyone is invaluable and has an idea which we can use at some point, feel free to contact any member of this executive.
As President of this association, I promise commitment, hard work, transparency and responsibility. I am dedicated along with this executive to establish our association as a voice for all former students.
Thank you and God Bless.
Mark Johnston,
President.
